Scholarships

All of the scholarships for RHS students are posted on the Seniors Google Classroom, which is managed by the school counselor. This is to avoid any students from other schools and districts being able to access and submit them, making it less competitive for our own students. Parents may subscribe to the Seniors Google Classroom by accepting the invitation sent each fall. Parents can also ask their students to log into the google classroom with them and view all scholarships and make a plan for submission.

The Local Scholarship Applications are updated each year after contacting the local businesses that fund those scholarships. If you are interested in participating in that as a local business, please contact the School Counselor. Local Scholarship applications are available year-round on the Seniors Google Classroom, as well as paper copies in front of the School Counseling office each spring before spring break. The Local Scholarships are due April 10th of each year to give businesses time to make selections and present at the Scholarship Assembly the last week of Seniors' attendance.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship.

Provided by the VFW, students in grades 9-12 are eligible for up to $30,000. Requires recording a three to five minute speech on "Why I'm Optimistic About Our Nation's Future."

Berrien Fragos Thorn Arts Scholarships for Migrant Farmworkers

Must demonstrate an interest in pursuing further development of their talents in the arts. Min. 16 years old. Need not be enrolled in school.

NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing

Honors young women in HS for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for postsecondary education. Applications are accepted from Sept. 15 – Oct. 31 each year.

The American Legion National HS Oratorical Contest Scholarship

Participate in the Oratorical Contest by delivering a speech on a given topic. Scholarships are awarded to the three finalists. First place receives $18,000, second gets $16,000 and third takes $14,000. To apply for the contest, download the application form in the “Student Application” section above and return it to your local Post, Unit, Squadron or District Contest Chairman as instructed. Remember all applications must be received by the State Contest Chairman by December 15, 2015. Contestants must be certified by their sponsor by January 1, 2016.

Must be accepted to an accredited 4-year institution. Up to  $20,000  per year. Renewable for 4 years.

Must be an enrolled member of a U.S. federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group, verified through submission of the AIGC Tribal Eligibility Certificate (TEC) form, demonstrate character and be seeking a degree and career in STEM or business.

For American Indian and Alaska Native Students full-time and degree-seeking college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who hold a current GPA of 2.7 or higher with up to $5,000 for one year of study in any chosen major at any accredited institution in the United States.

International Teamster Women’s Caucus Scholarship Program

For daughters/sons of active or retired Teamster members who have at least 12 months of consecutive membership in good standing. Must submit their SAT/ACT scores & an essay on how unions can motivate youth & women to become involved in the union movement. $500.

For those intent on pursuing a career in the actuarial profession. Open to individuals or teams in 6 competition categories. AWG Minority Scholarship 

For African American, Hispanic, and American Indian women. Must be full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the geosciences (geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrology, meteorology, physical oceanography, planetary geology, or earth science education) at an accredited college or university. HS students who will enter one of these fields during their freshman year may also apply. Applicants must be contributors to the larger world community through their academic and personal strengths. Scholarship awards include AWG membership.

ERCA Community Contribution Scholarship

Open to all HS students who have recognized a need or problem in their community and have determined a way to address the issue. $25,000 to 18 students throughout the country. The top prize will receive a $5,000 scholarship, two runners up will receive a $2,500 scholarship and 15 students will be awarded with a $1,000 scholarship for higher ed expenses.
