Irrigon, Oregon - A local construction company currently building data centers in the community made five elementary school staff very happy last month when a truck pulling an enclosed trailer arrived filled with items from their school wish lists.
The generous donation included everything from everyday classroom necessities such as pencils and organizational supplies to larger items, including playground equipment. What may seem like simple supplies made a significant impact for teachers and school staff who work every day to provide the best possible learning environments for students.
“This is a project I absolutely love,” said Misti Stefani, Project Manager for Suffolk Construction. “Being able to look at what our schools need, make a tangible difference, and see the excitement these items bring is incredibly rewarding. We are proud to be part of this community and to support the people who make such a difference in the lives of our children.”
The delivery itself became a memorable moment for MCSD principals when representatives of the company’s team came to personally deliver the donations, creating an opportunity for genuine connection between the company and the school district.
“It is overwhelming in the very best way to watch a trailer pull up and realize it is full of things our schools have asked for,” said Erin Stocker, HR Director for Morrow County School District. “And then to watch grown adults get as excited as little kids on Christmas as they open boxes and see what is inside. Having such a large group from the company here to make the delivery made it even more meaningful. Being able to shake hands, look people in the eye, and express our genuine appreciation is something we don't get to do every day.”
The company's support of the school district is part of a long-standing relationship that extends well beyond this recent donation. The company also supports the district's involvement with community Christmas Giving Tree events, helping provide gifts and support to families and children during the holiday season.
“This is so much bigger than a donation,” said Erin Stocker. “It is about relationships, personal and professional, and those relationships are really the root of what makes something like this possible. We are incredibly grateful for Suffolk Construction in how they continue to invest in our schools and in our communities.”
For the five elementary schools receiving the donations, the impact will be seen in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds and learning spaces throughout the school year. Most importantly, the generosity will ultimately benefit the students who walk through those doors every day.
