Another addition to our team at Riverside this year is Ms. Landis, who teaches 7th and 8th grade science. Ms. Landis grew up in Oregon, but spent most of her adult life in Virginia. While on the east coast she was a substitute teacher for many years before she returned to Oregon. When she returned to Oregon she was a 5th grade teacher at McNary Elementary in the Umatilla School District.
Ms. Landis says that one of her main hobbies is to work on curriculum development and lesson planning to create fun engaging lessons for students. She also enjoys playing with her two rescue dogs and playing video games.
She wanted to become a teacher to help children learn about the world around her. This is a passion for Ms. Landis and she wants to provide the same opportunity to her students. Ms. Landis had spent time as a substitute teacher in Boardman prior to teaching in Umatilla, and she loved the educational atmosphere in Boardman and the behavior of the students. When she was hired for the science position at Riverside she was overjoyed about the thought of that opportunity. When asked what she likes most about RHS she said, “Supportive, friendly co-workers, and the students are very respectful. It’s a great place to spend your day!”
Otra adición a nuestro equipo en Riverside este año es la Sra. Landis, quien enseña ciencias en los grados 7 y 8. La Sra. Landis creció en Oregon, pero pasó la mayor parte de su vida adulta en Virginia. Mientras estaba en la costa este, fue maestra sustituta durante muchos años antes de regresar a Oregon. Cuando regresó a Oregon, era maestra de quinto grado en la escuela primaria McNary en el distrito escolar de Umatilla.
La Sra. Landis dice que uno de sus principales pasatiempos es trabajar en el desarrollo del plan de estudios y la planificación de lecciones para crear lecciones divertidas y atractivas para los estudiantes. También le gusta jugar con sus dos perros de rescate y jugar videojuegos.
Quería convertirse en maestra para ayudar a los niños a aprender sobre el mundo que la rodea. Esta es una pasión para la Sra. Landis y quiere brindar la misma oportunidad a sus estudiantes. La Sra. Landis había pasado un tiempo como maestra sustituta en Boardman antes de enseñar en Umatilla, y le encantaba el ambiente educativo en Boardman y el comportamiento de los estudiantes. Cuando fue contratada para el puesto de ciencias en Riverside, estaba encantada con la idea de esa oportunidad. Cuando se le preguntó qué le gusta más de RHS, dijo: “Compañeros de trabajo amigables y comprensivos, y los estudiantes son muy respetuosos. ¡Es un gran lugar para pasar el día! "
