Please welcome Alyssa Rambo to Sam Boardman Elementary for the 2023-24 school year! Alyssa will be teaching 3rd Grade. She completed her education at Brigham Young University with a degree in Physical Education, Teachers Education. She grew up in La Center, WA, Alyssa enjoys long walks, bike rides, reading, and playing with her kids. Hot chocolate is her drink of choice, and her favorite meal is her husband’s specialty: jalapeno bacon mac n' cheese. With prior experience in substitute teaching and filling in for a 1st grade class at Sam Boardman last year, Alyssa found her passion for teaching and it has brought her to us again this year. She's excited to connect with her students and help them achieve their goals. Alyssa says that a new skill or activity she’d like to learn is soapmaking. ¡Dé la bienvenida a Alyssa Rambo a la escuela primaria Sam Boardman para el año escolar 2023-24! Alyssa enseñará 3er grado. Completó su educación en la Universidad Brigham Young con una licenciatura en Educación Física, Formación de Profesores. Creció en La Center, WA, Alyssa disfruta de largas caminatas, paseos en bicicleta, leer y jugar con sus hijos. El chocolate caliente es su bebida preferida y su comida favorita es la especialidad de su marido: macarrones con queso, tocino y jalapeño. Con experiencia previa en enseñanza sustituta y reemplazando una clase de primer grado en Sam Boardman el año pasado, Alyssa encontró su pasión por la enseñanza y eso la ha traído a nosotros nuevamente este año. Está emocionada de conectarse con sus estudiantes y ayudarlos a alcanzar sus metas. Alyssa dice que una nueva habilidad o actividad que le gustaría aprender es la fabricación de jabón.

MCSD will be closed on September 4th in observance of Labor Day. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and is observed on the 1st Monday in September. Let’s welcome Laura Wells to Sam Boardman Elementary for the 2023-24 school year! Laura will be teaching 1st Grade. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon. Hailing from Hermiston, Oregon, her hobbies include painting, drawing, and weightlifting. Laura's drink of choice is black coffee, and she loves Chinese food. With a history of special education assisting, substitute teaching, and prior 1st-grade teaching experience, Laura is thrilled to be in the classroom for Sam Boardman. She looks forward to utilizing the Science of Reading in her teaching approach and supporting her students. Having grown up in an education-oriented family, Laura is excited to continue her teaching journey. ¡Démosle la bienvenida a Laura Wells a la escuela primaria Sam Boardman para el año escolar 2023-24! Laura enseñará 1er grado. Tiene una licenciatura de la Universidad de Oregon. Originaria de Hermiston, Oregón, sus pasatiempos incluyen pintar, dibujar y levantar pesas. La bebida preferida de Laura es el café negro y le encanta la comida china. Con un historial de asistencia en educación especial, enseñanza sustituta y experiencia docente previa en primer grado, Laura está encantada de estar en el aula de Sam Boardman. The new school year is fast approaching! We have a new registration system and will be sending online registration instructions to all existing families through email the second week in August. Families new to the district will need to go into the building to start the registration process. ¡El nuevo año escolar se acerca rápidamente! 🌟Congrats to Sam Boardman's Yadira Gomez! Congratulations to our Crystal Apple Award winners from Morrow County School District! We are thrilled to recognize their excellence in education and their dedication to the success of our students. Yadira Gomez is a CARE Coordinator at Sam Boardman Elementary School and has worked for MCSD for five years. She takes the time to get to know the families in the school very well, always willing to go the extra step to help them. She has coordinated dozens of students to be seen for medical, vision, and dental needs -- some of these imperative to the academic performance of those students. Between helping staff make phone calls, doing home visits, or helping complete paperwork, Yadira works hard to maintain healthy relationships with community members and connect them with the resources they need. -- 🌟¡Felicidades a Yadira Gómez de Sam Boardman! ¡Felicitaciones a nuestros ganadores del Premio Crystal Apple del Distrito Escolar del Condado de Morrow! Estamos encantados de reconocer su excelencia en la educación y su dedicación al éxito de nuestros estudiantes. Yadira Gómez es coordinadora de CARE en la escuela primaria Sam Boardman y ha trabajado para MCSD durante cinco años. Se toma el tiempo para conocer muy bien a las familias en la escuela, siempre dispuesta a dar un paso más para ayudarlas.
